How to solve iPod touch stuck in recovery mode?

“My iPod touch is in recovery mode and when I connect it to iTunes, it doesn't come up on the devices and I've tried holding down the sleep and home button and it doesn't do anything. When I hold the power down it doesn't ask me to slide to power off it just goes back to the recovery sign. I don't know why it works like this and I don't know what to do either. Someone please help.
